This is a truly stunning piece!
In Victorian times, ladies visited their friends and left their "calling cards." They carried these sweet little cards in pretty cases such as this one. Today we do not call on people. Our business cards are bigger that the calling cards of days past. However, this case fits a credit card or two perfectly!
This gorgeous Sterling silver calling case case or holder features an engraved bird sitting on a branch with flowers and leaves. This lovely scene appears to have some golden accents. The other side has a raised area with the name K. A. Schwarz on it. The same flower branches appear on this side too. The shape of this piece is very fancy. This piece has a couple of pin point dings, and the top does not close tightly. It measures 3 1/2" by 2 1/2." It is stamped Sterling with the Mark for Gorham. There is also a letter E to the right of the Gorham mark that is the date Mark for, I believe, 1872.
