After an apprenticeship with Dior, French designer Ted Lapidus started his own fashion label in 1951, and gained prominence in the 1960s when celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Twiggy and John Lennon started wearing his clothing and accessories. His earlier pieces remain collectible but hard to find. This vintage Ted Lapidus purse features a stylish mix of beautiful black leather and crocodile skin. It carries the trademark TL logo on the front of the bag in lovely black enamel and gold tones, and the Lapidus name is also carried on the fabric lining the inside zippered pocket. It measures 10" x 7 ¼". It can be worn with the strap over the shoulder, adjusted to suit your taste, or as a clutch with the strap removed or tucked into the purse. The fittings show some wear given the age of the piece, but overall the purse is in very good condition.
