Happy Hooligan was an early comic strip character by Frederick Burr Opper running from 1900 - 1932. The candy container dates from somewhere in those dates. His head and shoes are a plasterey substance as are his boots. The middle is a cardboard tube which makes the candy container. His legs are wires. With careful positioning he will stand but would better be in a doll stand. As shown in photo he opens in the middle with flower covered cardboard. The top of the bottom pc is stamped Germany. His jacket is of green felt, his vest is red felt and his scarf is gold felt. His trousers are blue and white striped cotton. His hands are felt and are sewn with four finders and thumb. His hat is red felt. His trousers are not spotless but suffer from aging. His boots have some paint chips but are intact. He has a bit of red 'hair' across the back of his head. There looks to be a small chip on his nose but not terribly noticeable. The left side of his trousers have an opening just below the cardboard tube and one small place is stiff and a small tear (about eighth inch). He is tall - thirteen inches from tip of red felt top to bottom of boots.
