This exquisite brooch/pin/pendant signed DeNicola is a rare find in the vintage market. The intricate gold-plated arabesque frame and filigree is reminiscent of the beautiful art and tiles found in Morocco. At the center of the brooch, a large milk glass cabochon looks like fine organic white coral or white jade. The cabochon is surrounded by 33 bezel-set diamante stones. At the 3-6-9-12 positions raised round stations each hold 7 tiny faux seed pearls. Twelve additional faux seed pearls are mounted directly onto the gold-plated filigree frame. The overall effect is exotic, mysterious and stunningly beautiful.

DeNicola jewelry was produced from 1957 to 1973 by Jerry DeNicola. His design intention was to create fashion pieces that rivaled the look of fine jewelry. As a matter of fact, one of his lines was called "The Real Thing.” He also had a line entitled, “Young America.” During the early 1970s, the company became part of the Capri Jewelry Company and the DeNicola hallmark was retired.

Two of the required elements for manufacturing “real” looking jewelry are expert workmanship and top-of-the-line materials. The finely detailed work in this brooch, as well as the fine quality materials, is testament to DeNicola’s design vision. This looks like a legacy piece that may have been handed down through the family or that you picked up years ago in the Middle East. It does not look like fashion jewelry.

Condition is excellent with just a couple of items to mention: There is a small chip in the gold-plate on the right-hand rear edge, and one of the diamante stones has darkened slightly. Neither of the defects is noticeable and they do not detract in any way from the beauty of the piece.

The brooch can be worn as a pendant as shown in my photos. The chain I have it on is not original to the piece, but I think it nicely matches the color and style. I am happy to include it with the brooch if you so desire.

DeNicola is very collectible due to its high quality and the scarcity of available pieces. This will be a wonderful addition to your vintage collection.
