A framed c1860-65 photograph of an American Civil war NCO (Non-commissioned officer).
The picture is of a NCO posing with a sword. The sword guard, belt buckle, buttons & butt of the holstered pistol have had golden paint applied to make these features more visible.
It is mounted as a case with the lid opening to reveal the photograph. The cover is detached now.
The back of each part of the frame is decorated with a chalace and floral decoration. The first panel is covered with fabric whilst the piece with the photograph is decorated with gold gilt decoration surrounding the picture.
~ Dimensions ~
Each piece has a height of 4 inches (10.25cm) and a width of 3.5 inches (9cm).
~ Condition ~
The frames used to be connected via a small slither of leather, but this has become worn and no longer connects the two halves together. The back of the frames are each fairly worn, with cracking and general age wear and colour loss/fading. The glass has some minor wear but the frame remains in excellent condition. The picture appears to have no overall wear or damage.
