~ Fine Oak Cased Mantle Clock By Winterhalder And Hofmeier Germany ~
This clock by Winterhalder and Hofmeier is a grand gesture of quality and style.
The case is of a rick oak with a glossy finish. The clock is fronted by an ornate brass plate with silvered dial to the center. Above the main dial are two smaller ones for speed and chime settings. The back of the clock has a fretted panel to the door backed with red silk to allow the chime to resonate outside of the case.
The clock stands on elaborate gilt gold feet balanced by the presence of brass acorn toppers to the arched top of the case. The columns to either side of the case have been beautifully finished with fine slivers of brass inlay.
The mechanism of the clock is marked W&H SCH for the manufacturer Winterhalder and Hofmeier who were producing clocks of this type in the black forest region of Germany between 1810-1933. The company was considered one of the finest Victorian Clock makers of the day.
The clock 'Ting Tang' strikes on the quarter, half and full hours.

The clock stands at 14.5 inches (37cm). It measures 11.5 inches (29cm) at the widest point on the base by 7.5 inches (19cm) deep. The dial measures approximately 5.5 inches (14cm) in diameter.
This clock weighs 6.86kg.
~ Condition ~
The clock is in good antique condition with only light wear to the wooden case. The dial and furnishings are also in a good state with only light surface wear to the gilt finishes. There is a small repair to the wood around the left finial.
The clock has recently been serviced and is in good working order.
