~ Royal Navy Frigate HMS Unicorn 1747 Model ~

A well built plank on frame model of the Royal Navy ship HMS Unicorn, made from the Corel kit.

The model is highly detailed and is complete with rigging and cannons but not with sails.

The model is displayed on a purpose built stand with a plaque reading ‘HMS Unicorn’.

~ HMS Unicorn ~

Despite what Corel claims, HMS Unicorn was a 28-gun Lyme class sixth rate of the Royal Navy. She was ordered to the draft of the French privateer Tyger. She and her near sister Lyme were the first true frigates built for the Royal Navy.

HMS Unicorn was built at Plymouth Dockyard and launched in December of 1747. She was completed in July of 1749. HMS Unicorn served mainly in the Mediterranean and saw active and continuous service during the Seven Years' War. She was paid off in 1763 and was broken up at Sheerness Dockyard in 1771.

~ Dimensions ~

The ship has a length of 81cm (32 inches) and a height on stand of 76cm (30 inches).

It weighs 1.33 Kg

~ Condition ~

There is some repair to the horn of the unicorn figure head and the upper part of one of the main masts.

The union flag is not attached, it has come unglued.

The model is otherwise in terrific condition.
