~ WW2 German Original M45 Fallschirmjager Paratrooper Helmet ~
Here we have a fully original Second World War German Paratroopers (Fallschirmjager) helmet with dark green combat paint.
The M45 steel helmet has a painted finish in green so it is an early one from the European theatre. The helmet is complete with all parts of its leather liner including chin strap and protective foam rubber block structure. The inner rim has the correct crease line.
There are no discernible markings to be seen underneath the paint.
The chin strap on this helmet was introduced in 1936 and designed to cross behind the back of the neck and down around the chin while crossing on either side of the ears. It is unique to the paratrooper corps.
~ Dimensions ~
The Outer shell of the helmet is 5 inches (13 cm) deep, 8.5 inches (21 cm) wide and 10 inches (25.5 cm) from rear to back.
The internal liner measures 8 inches (20 cm) from rear to the front.
The headband is 22 inches around (56 cm).
The helmet weighs 1.56 Kg
~ Condition ~
The helmet is complete with its liner and chin strap.
The padding blocks are good and stiff as they should be (with non-uniform bubble sizes) and the shell shows the correct level of rigidity.
All screws are original and correct.
There is one small (1 inch / 2.5 cm) stress crack on the rim at the rear of the helmet (pictured).
