This is the original mold, that would have been pushed down into a sand-bed to make the former for the molten bronze casting of the main ships bridge crest for the 1927 battle cruiser.

HMS Nelson was one of the two Nelson-class battleships built for the Royal Navy between the two World Wars. She was launched September 1925 and was commissioned August 1927. She was named in honour of Horatio Nelson the victor at the Battle of Trafalgar.
