~ 1805 Nelson HMS Victory George III Silver Vinaigrette By Hart & Co ~
A fine George III era silver vinaigrette by Hart & Co dated for 1805.
The vinaigrette is of rectangular curved form. The lid is engraved with a portrait of Nelson through an oval window with
“England Expects Every Man Will Do His Duty” within the border. The base has a central and attractive floral design.
The lid opens to reveal a portrait of HMS Victory at sea, it reads “Victory” and “Trafalgar Oct 21 1805” (the battle of Trafalgar). The inner surfaces and portrait are gilded.
The piece is hallmarked inside to the lid and base for silver, Birmingham, 1805 and has the makers mark for ‘H&Co’ for Hart & Co.

The vinaigrette measures 3cm by 2.2cm by 1cm.
It weighs 16.1g.
The vinaigrette is in a very nice condition with only a light indentation to the left side of the lid and a little oxidation to the gilt finish to the inner base surface. There is no major damage and both hinges work well.
