A pair of wooden patterns worn to protect the shoes from the mud and rain.these are early 19 th century and I believe them to be rural English.
They have metal bolts to hold them together and straps to go around the ankle .leather tie covers.in the underside they show clear use as the leather soles and heels are worn .
These are interesting as they are work wear and clearly used for that purpose.
Good archive and museum quality .
Circa.first quarter of the 19 th century.
Early 19 th century shoes. English rural wear patterns . Shoe protectors
