This is a lovely Georgian eye-shaped brooch from around 1800. It has a central compartment containing woven brown hair. The surround of the brooch is comprised of half pearls (symbolizing modest loveliness). Eye-shaped brooches are called ‘shuttle’ brooches and were produced between 1790 to 1800.
A bale and two jump rings have been added to the brooch so it can be worn as a pendant. The brooch is 1 ¼ inches long by ½ an inch. It weighs 4.26 grams. It has a C-clasp. It tests as 9k rose gold.
Postage and insurance are included in the price.
