This simple ring is a Mizpah ring. It has a plain tapered band with applied letters on the top. It was made in Birmingham in 1879, 18k, maker’s mark “RV”. It weighs 3.4 grams and is a size M/N (6 ½). It is 7mm wide at the top.
The name ‘Mizpah’ is taken from Genesis 31.49: ‘It was also called Mizpah, (which means watchtower) because he said, May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other’. It is a ring representing love for another person, very sentimental, and was often given to sailors or soldiers going off to war. It would make a lovely wedding band or anniversary gift.
Postage and insurance are included in the price.
