For your consideration is this stunning Meissen Blue Onion pattern gilded compote with reticulated border. The Blue Onion pattern was created by Meissen in 1740 copying earlier examples of blue and white Chinese porcelain from the Ming Dynasty. The original Chinese pattern was not actually an onion but peaches and pomegranates. In its rendition, Meissen interpreted those fruits as an onion. The Blue Onion has flourished as one of Meissen's most recognizable and endearing patterns. This is a nice tall piece at 9" height and 8 3/4" in diameter. It is a 1st quality piece and it is in minty condition. Meissen is know for superb quality.
