Vintage Necklace by Andrew Emerson Quam - image 1 of 9

Here is a gorgeous three strand heishi necklace created by Andrew Emerson Quam along with George Haloo Chee Chee. The hand made coral heishi beads are strung with bird fetishes made of shell and serpentine. The birds are delicately carved by an expert Zuni carver! The necklace measures 31" end to end and weighs 125.4 grams.

This vintage necklace dates from the 1960's. The word heishi means shell but is often now used to describe beads carved in a small, flat, disc shape. This is truly one of a kind! The artists who have collaborated on this piece are both well known, respected fetish carvers.
