A step back in time...Oscar Gutherz and Maximilian Marx started a porcelain decorating business in Altrohlau in 1884 with financial backing from Lazarus Straus & Sons, an American importer. Later the company began making porcelain. In 1898 Oscar's brother Edgar Gutherz, bought out Max and joined Oscar in business, which became known as the Oscar and Edgar Gutherz (O. & E.G.) Royal Austria factory.

This elegant serving bowl was one of their wonderful creations. The swirl and curve designs are embossed in the white ware with a high gloss glaze finish. The height of the bowl is 3" without the lid and approximately 7" with the lid on. The rim diameter is 9 1/4" by 7". The measurements from handle to handle are 11".

This lovely bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
