This is a demitasse cup and saucer from the F and R Pratt and Co. Ltd. of Staffordshire, England. This cup and saucer dates to 1862, and features the two vignettes titled "Roman Ruins and Pedestrians" on one side of the cup and "Crooked Bridge" on the other. The saucer displays an idyllic rural scene with milkmaid, cattle and sheep in the foreground and a man tending cattle, sheep, and a goat behind her. Billowing clouds, distant mountains, a lake and stone ruins complete the panoramic scene. All is surrounded by a beautiful band of deep pink. Both the cup and the saucer are trimmed in designs of gold, black, and white.
The cup is 2 3/8" in height with a rim diameter of 2 1/2". The saucer is 5 1/2" in diameter with the rim rising to a height of 3/4". The cup and saucer are in very good condition with vibrant colors and with no chips or cracks.
