Blue curves, swirls, and ridges grace the bowls like a stormy day. The pictorial scene on the large bowl and 1 small bowl shows a woman gazing upwards, calling her wayward bird to return to the open cage which she is holding in her hand. It appears she is in a summer garden with a brick or rock retaining wall. Her clothing appears to be 18th century. The other 3 bowls depict a winter scene. A gentleman skater glides the woman in a swan sleigh across a frozen pond with a snow-flocked pine tree in the background. What fun! They also appear to be dressed in 18th century clothing.
This Weimar, Germany, back stamp was first used in 1848.
The large bowl is 2 1/8" in height with a scalloped rim which has a diameter of 10". The 4 small bowls are 1 1/4" in height with a scalloped rim diameter of 5 5/8". This set is in good condition with these exceptions: the small bowls have crazing on the back and one small bowl has slight crazing on the front which is hard to see. See photos. This is a unique set
