This elegant loving cup reads, Presented to Henry Davenport by John Sheldon August 1883. The lettering is in gold with a white background encircled in gold. The cup is painted red with a wide gold rim and gold trim on the bottom. The handles are white with a gold scroll pattern. The other side of the cup is a floral pattern encircled in gold. The back stamp on the cup or mark, Caduceus, was registered as a trademark by Powell and Bishop in 1876. The mark was also used by subsequent partnerships including Powell, Bishop and Stonier. The cup is 4 3/4" in height with a rim diameter of 4 7/8" and measures about 8 1/2" from handle to handle. This item is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
