This charming covered butter dish is semi- porcelain. It was made by W H Grindley and Company, England. The butter dish and cover date from 1891 until 1914. The transferware pattern is light green and almost looks blue. The pattern is accented in gold. The diameter of the bowl is 7 1/8" with a height of 3 3/4" with the lid on. It has a tiny nick on the lid rim edge with a few specks of brown stains along the inside rim. The bowl has a chip on the back side that is not seen from the top. Even with these few flaws the butter dish is a charming piece.
