This set is something special. The Registration mark is impressed in the soup tureen. My understanding is the pattern was patented in 1846 with the British patent office. The date when the piece was made is 1877. It is in good condition for being 140 years old. There are some small wear marks from use. On the inside of the lip of the lid are some small chips and a chip at the bottom where the ladle fits in, see last photo.
The soup tureen is large measuring 8" in height with the lid on with outside rim dimensions of 12" by 8". It has a pedestal base with a blue accent design at the bottom. The top of the lid handle is rectangular with laurel leaves around the bottom. The two side handles match the top handle. The soup tureen has a charming swag, bow leaf and square pattern. The under plate is fantastic! The under plate is footed and has a diameter of 14 1/4" by 11". The pattern is repeated around the rim with a center displaying two doves, leaves and two torches, one of which has flames. Together the under plate and soup tureen weigh 8 pounds 13 ounces.
