Add a touch of enchanting charm to any room! This wall plaque was hand painted during the arts and crafts movement with darling water lilies accented in black with a heavy gold edge rim and center ring. The background has three different shades of green accented in black. It's a large wall plaque with a diameter of 12 1/2". The back stamp is Haviland France. There is wire for hanging attached.
There is an inscription on the back which reads Toots Rush, 1918, wishes on Hoolie Hamlin. The inscription is faded black but also slightly etched into the porcelain. I think the meaning may go something like this; Toots ,Babe, sweetie, Rush referring to college sorority, 1918, wishes on Hoolie, partier from the Irish origin of Hooligan, and Hamlin is a college in Minnesota.
This plate is in good condition with no chips or cracks. The last photo shows some glaze streaks, they are not scratches. There is also very minor gold loss.
