This table centerpiece makes a grand statement! The epergne is old Sheffield silver plate with lead crystal cut glass bowls. This piece was passed down through a family for generations. It was made in 1820 and maybe a little before that. Around the top rim is a grape and leaf design. The base has 4 hairy paws. The arms are numbered and can be removed. The epergne is 19" in height; without the bowl, 15 5/8". Arm to arm measures 23" with the base measuring 7 1/2" by 7 1/2". One arm was professionally repaired at the base after I purchased the item and I was told that a center screw had been previously added.
The lead crystal cut glass bowls are gorgeous! It has a beautiful ring and sparkles in the light. The large bowl is marked with a ' W '. The large bowl is in good condition. Two of the smaller bowls have a small rim chip (not noticeable) and 1 small bowl has been glued together (see last photo). The bowl was glued when I purchased this item, now the glue has come apart and the bowl is in pieces. The large bowl measures 4 1/2" in height with a rim diameter of 11 1/2". The 4 small bowls measure 2" in height with a rim diameter of 5 1/8".
