This lovely set of 6 - 9" plates were made by Wedgwood, England for the Gilman Collamore & Co. located on Fifth Avenue & 30th Street in New York City. The pattern is sweet floral swags with blue, yellow, and pink flowers accented in gold. The design also includes a green and gold intricate design. The edges of the plates are scalloped and trimmed in gold. This set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or paint loss. The back of the plate has D Wedgwood S impressed in the plates. This set dates from 1901 until 1915.
Gilman Collamore & Co. was the place to go for the fine quality porcelain. Gilman started his own business in 1861 and by 1890 moved to the first and finest bachelor apartment houses erected in New York City, The Wilbraham Building located on Fifth Avenue and 30th Street. His business was located in the building until 1920. Gilman built a new building and moved to 15 East and 56th Street.
