The mythological story behind the brooch! Main characters are Mekkala, the Goddess of Lightening, and Ramasoon, the Thunder God. This was a story to explain lightening and thunder to Thai children. The story begins....Ramasoon fell in love with the beautiful Mekkala, but she does not reciprocate that love back to him. In a rage, he hurled his axe at her so he could capture her, but Mekkala was able to ward him off and defend herself by throwing a magical crystal ball. As the axe struck this ball, it created an immense flash of light. This was the very beginning of lightening. Defeated, Ramasoon created darkness and rain so he could retreat. It is said to this very day, Ramasoon repeats his efforts by throwing his axe to capture her and her magical crystal ball defends her!

The brooch is marked Siam Sterling on the back. The brooch is 1 1/4" by 1 1/2". It has a roll over c-catch. The brooch is in very good condition.
