Fenton Amethyst Carnival Glass Lidded Candy Dish ~ The Little Brown Church in the Vale
This wonderful footed, lidded candy dish was made by Fenton in a deep amethyst iridescence. The pattern is "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" and matches the first plate in the series of church plates that began in 1970. The church scene is on both front and back of the piece and is surrounded by flowers and texturing. The flowers also wrap around the foot, outer edge of the lid, and the finial. The iridescence is wonderful, the glass is heavy and in absolutely perfect shape with no nicks, chips or cracks. The candy dish without the lid stands 5 1/2" high with the opening 4 1/2" wide. The foot is 3 1/2" across. With the lid on the piece is 8 1/2" high. An extremely nice addition to a Fenton/Carnival collection!
