Item........................Madame Alexander Scarlett O'Hara Doll, early mark, composition, complete outfit
Size.........................14"
Year.......................1939
Type.....................Composition
Outfit..................Tagged Dress, Tagged Coat
Info......................This outfit is pictured in Treasury of MME. Alexander Dolls on page 92 by Jan Foulke and is also
...............................shown on the cover as shown in my picture's group.
Face.....................Nice Pink cheeks, red rosebud lips, no rubs or repaint, Wendy Ann style
Eyes.....................Blue sleep eyes, open and close easily, with full original lashes, painted lower lashes, eye shadow,
................................and painted brows
Hair.....................Original full mohair wig with curls at each temple, original hair style with many curls all around
Body..................Composition is very nice and she has all her fingers, no chipping either. She does have a repair to
..............................her left shoulder where her composition has chipped as seen, not visible when dressed.
Marks................She has the early MME Alexander mark on her neck
Clothes............She is wearing her complete original tagged outfit . It consists of a pale green organdy dress that
..............................now looks pale yellow with very full skirt and short sleeves with lace trim at sleeves and neck. It
..............................fastens in back with tiny snaps. It is in wonderful crispy fresh condition with no damage and still
..............................fans out beautifully. It still has it's original gold Scarlett sticker on the front bottom of the skirt. It
..............................has an attached cotton/muslin hoop skirt that is in very good condition and circular. She wears
..............................matching cotton/muslin pantaloons with a double layer of eyelet ruffles also in very good condition.
..............................Her fabulous satin coat is also very full with a gathered waist, long sleeves and a large Peter Pan
..............................collar. It fastens in front with 2 snaps and one fake one covered with a cloth button as is the second
.............................snap down from the top. The top snap has no button covering it and doesn't look like it ever did.
..............................She has a matching wonderful bonnet that matches her coat. It has a lace inner ruffle that frames
..............................her face, a cluster of old flowers at the top behind the brim and very nice green satin ribbon ties. The
..............................reference book says the coat was green satin. on page 92 with a black and white photo, but she is
.............................shown on the cover in color in the same brown coat and bonnet as my doll. Both my coat and bonnet
..............................are brown maybe a green sheen at times in certain light but both are evenly colored with no fading.
.............................. She wears her original green oilcloth shoes with good side snaps and green fabric bows. No odors.
..............................This stunning multi part outfit is just wonderful to find and amazing that is still in such great condition
..............................and even still has the Scarlett sticker on her dress after all these years.
