18th Century French or Italian andirons. They do not have any screws or nuts in the construction. There are 2 faces hammered in both the top cressets (cup like holders on the top of each). Also, 2 faces on the bottom of the rings half way down the column. They also have claw feet one of which is fire pitted. There is also an arm that swings out to hold a cooking pot as shown in the photos. (pot not included). There is some rust and fire pitting on the parts that hold the logs. Other than that they are in good condition considering their age.
They are large: 36"tall and weigh 22 lbs. and 24lbs., the heavier one is the one with the cooking arm. Very sturdy, great for a large fireplace.
