This Large Sea Shell Souvenir Folk Art Box Was Made Out Of Cardboard And Shells. The Work Is Quite Intricate With A Pin Cushion Surrounded By Small Shells On The Top. Some Of The Shells Are Painted Red And Yellow And The Box Was Once A Bright Green. It Was Probably A Sewing Box. The Shells Around The Sides Were Plastered On To The Box While The Tiny Shells Along The Edges Are Glued. While The Box, Itself, Is Sturdy, The Hinge Is Very Fragile And Loose. Some Shells May Be Missing And The Top Has Two Broken Mussels But With Such A Busy Design It Is Not That Noticeable. The Box Measures 12" Across x 7 1/2" Front To Back x 3 1/4" Tall. The Close Up Photos Show Some Of The Wear To The Box. The Condition Is Good When You Consider The Age And The Materials Used To Make This Wonderful Box.
