Vintage 1920's 1930's Art Deco Sterling Silver and Marcasite Ring.
A beautiful example of Art Deco jewelry design. The ring measures 7/8" (22mm) long by 1/2"(12mm) wide. All of the marcasite stones are present and in great condition with tons of sparkle!
The mark is a worn "STERLING" but you can make out the STE and the ING, as seen in the 4th photo at right. There is the remnants of a hallmark on the opposite side but all that's left are 2 faded, opposing arrows. Arrow marks were very popular during this time period, so without any additional identifying marks within the arrow, it's difficult to say who was the manufacturer. The ring size is a 9.5, which is large for that era and my guess is that it was sized somewhere along the way. On smaller hands/fingers, this may be a good fit for a middle or index finger.
It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find true Art Deco, sterling and marcasite rings with a STERLING mark versus a 925 mark. While you will find some 925 marks on jewelry from the early 1900's, in the US, most were marked Sterling through the 1930's. European jewelry was marked 925 earlier but this ring has none of the other marks attributed to European pieces.
The image shows a darkened area on the bottom right. This is only a shadow on the open cut out area. There are no flaws to the ring.
