Vintage Sarah Coventry Chan di Lites Rhinestone Loop Choker Necklace.
Sarah Coventry Jewelry was founded in 1949 by Charles Stuart and ceased operations in 1984. They did make a brief comeback in the early 2000's but the new company was short lived. The first jewelry company to use home parties and not department stores to market and sell their jewelry, Sarah Coventry became one of the top selling brands of 20th century costume jewelry. Interestingly, they did not design or manufacture their jewelry, but instead relied on outside designers and contracted manufacturers.
This necklace is in spectacular condition with bright rhinestones and an unmarked goldtone finish. The left side of the main photo has a reflection of light along that side of the necklace. This is only the lighting and not wear to the finish. Please look all of the photos for an overall view. The rhinestones are prong set and measure 4mm. The drops are 3/4" or 20mm in length. The necklace length is 14 3/4" to 17 1/2" with the adjustable J hook clasp and extender chain.
Sarah Coventry hangtag and hallmark date this piece to the 1960's. The Chan di Lite design was introduced in 1964, although some articles say 1965 and there is a copyright renewal in the Catalog of Copyright Entries for 1967.
