Mid Century Strombergshyttan / Stromberg Blue Scandinavian Crystal Decanters - Set of 2
The Swedish designs of Strombergshyttan are unmistakable. Clean, modern designs of outstanding quality. Founded in 1876 as Lindfors, the company was leased by Edward Stromberg in 1933 and became Strombershyttan. Edward and his son Eric, created the bluish silver hue that has become synonymous with Stromberg glass. Eric purchased the company in 1945 and it remained family owned until 1976. All Strombergshyttan pieces are signed either Stromberg or Strombergshyttan along with a code. Individual artist's names were never used in the etched signature. These decanters are signed Stromberg with the production code. As you can see from the photo, the etching is slightly worn but the signature is visible on both pieces. I believe the code 549, but it's very difficult to make out.
A perfect addition to your MCM bar collection.
These are single owner decanters and are in excellent vintage condition (one tiny, 2mm air bubble on the edge of the small decanter stopper, has a slightly rough feel). Photos are done in varied lighting to give a better overall picture of the item. Any streaks/lines that you see are merely reflections.
The large decanter measures 9.25" tall (with stopper), 4.5" in diameter (at widest point) and holds 24 ounces.
The smaller decanter measures 7" tall (with stopper), 4" in diameter (at widest point) and holds 12 ounces.
These have quite a bit of weight to them, but the design makes them comfortable to pour from and hold.
Circa 1950 - 1959
