Vintage 1940's Hand Blown Dunbar Glass Company Pitcher and Glassware Set - 5 Piece
Dunbar Glass Company of Dunbar, West Virginia was founded in 1923 and ceased operations in 1956 (although some say 1953). They didn't start their iridescent or luster line until the early 1940's. A relatively short life span, as glass companies go, make these pieces a little harder to come by. This set was purchased from the estate sale of a collector and is in perfect condition. The color is a very light amber but in certain light, combined with the iridescent nature of the glass, it can appear pale pink.
Each of the 4 glasses stands 5.75" tall and 3" in diameter at the mouth, holding 14 ounces of liquid. The pitcher measures 8.5" high and 7" handle to spout, holding 70 ounces total.
The glass is beautifully made with the flared, grooved handle applied. It's very lightweight and a striking yet delicate set all around.
