Vintage 1970's Cream and Blue Floral Stoneware Coffee Cups, Sugar and Creamer Set.
The clean cream color with the vibrant blue single flower, makes for an eye catching set (the design is present on both sides of each piece). I went down quite the research road with this set, to no avail. The Bertos painted logo on the bottom covers an impressed mark that is not visible. I've done a rubbing of the mark but it could be one of 10 different shapes. The size of the cups and the name Bertos, makes me think Italy with Bertos as the decorator and not the manufacturer but again, this is just conjecture on my part, based on the lack of info out there, the name and the design. The mark is a paint palette and brush which could be a logo homage to the famous Italian painter. All of that being said, it's a beautiful set with some crazing to the lid of the sugar bowl and a small groove in the ceramic of the creamer that appears to be a manufacturer flaw and does not carry through to the outside (see 5th and 6th pics under main photo).
4 (4 oz ) cups and saucers
1 lidded sugar bowl, measuring 5" high and 4.75" in diameter at base
1 creamer, measuring 3.25" high and 5.5" handle to spout
The cup size, at 4 oz, makes them larger than a demitasse cup ( 2oz ) and smaller than an average coffee cup. The perfect size for a cappuccino, double espresso or small coffee.
