Vintage 1969 Apollo 11 Space Capsule Ceramic Wine Decanter.
Very cool in every way! This space capsule shaped decanter held a vintage 1967 Stefani Vino Rosso and was distributed by Wine Imports of America in Hawthorne, NJ. What I find so interesting and funny, is that we forget that prior to the Vintage craze, the only thing commonly known as "vintage" was wine. Our first instinct is to see the word vintage on the label and take it to mean that the entire piece is labeled vintage, which of course it would not be, as it wasn't vintage when it was made. The word Vintage, on the label, is for the Vintage 1967 wine that it once held. Even my middle aged mind, had to think about it for a minute, as I've become so accustomed to vintage's new meaning.
There are great details throughout the piece, so please be sure to view all photos.
In excellent condition with one small piece missing from the cork. Should you choose to remove the cork (which I haven't), it will most likely disintegrate and if you intend to use the decanter, it will need a new stopper. That being said, I have not seen the inside and while it is empty, there may be some residue that will need cleaning.
Measures 6 1/2" high and 6 1/2" in diameter.
