Vintage Mexico Sterling Serpent Circle Brooch with Pendant Loop - Signed
A wonderful example of mid century Mexican sterling jewelry. The Pre Columbian design is seen by the stylized serpent and decorative outer rim.
Signed P. Luco, who is listed in Bille Hougart's Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (page 180 - ebook edition) This mark is cut off by the location of the stamp but the CO at the end is clear. I have compared this pin to others marked P. Luco and they are identical in both marks and design, so I feel confident that this is same mark. Other marks include Eagle 3 (1955 through 1980), Plata Artistica, Taxco, Mexico and 925.
I have only lightly cleaned the pin, as some prefer a little age to their silver jewelry. I am however, happy to polish it completely removing the natural patina.
Brooch measures 1 5/8" or 42mm
