Vintage 1930's Green Chalcedony Round Sterling Silver Filigree Brooch with Pendant Loop.
Quite the eye catching brooch, although I would probably use it more as pendant as it would look spectacular on either a short black silk chord or silver chain.
The pin measures 1 3/4" (44mm) with the bezel set stone measuring 30mm.
Excellent condition with no scratching to the stone.
Marked 925 and Sterling, which almost always dates jewelry to the 1930's....when 925 became more common place, yet the Sterling mark was still being used. My opinion is that artisans of that time were hesitant to use one marking or the other, so they used both. The Sterling mark is very worn, the 925 mark is clearer but still worn. There are initials but they are very worn. 3 initials, possible RP... but it's very difficult to tell under magnification. Younger eyes than mine, may have better luck:)
While I can't definitively date this to the 1930's, I would say that the range is from the 1920's to the 1940's.
