Antique ( 1876 to 1898 ) John Turton of Sheffield, Silver Plated Teapot, Tipping Kettle / Spirit Kettle and Lidded Sugar Bowl.
This set is in beautiful condition. The tipping tea kettle, is spectacular and complete with stand and wick. The teapot and covered sugar bowl complete the set. Love floral finial accents and chased leafy floral design. There are so many great little touches on this set, from the finals to the heart shaped arms that hold the kettle and white porcelain rings that set off the handle.
Tipping kettles with stands can be difficult to come by and are useful when serving tea to a larger group or refilling cups. The reserve water stays heated in the kettle and on standby for the next round.
The kettle with stand, measures 13" in height. The kettle measures 10" in height (without stand) and 9.5" from handle to spout, holding 5 cups (40 ounces).
The teapot measures 6.5" in height, 11" handle to spout and holds 4 cups (32 ounces).
The sugar bowl measures 5" high and 10" handle to handle
All pieces are in exceptional condition and are marked John Turton, Made in Sheffield, England, Hand Chased, EP 0799. The tipping kettle has one area of darkened wear to the right of the center design. It is a small flaw in the scope of the piece and only noticeable under close inspection.
