This gorgeous vase was recently acquired at an antique store that I frequent quite often. On the bottom of this piece is a polished pontil which indicates that this vase was handmade. This majestic vase stands 11 ¼ inches in height and comes with a base of 3 ¾ inches in diameter. Total weight of this fine Italian vase is 1lb 6.6oz. It has a color gradation or Ombre technique which starts as a paler pink, to a vibrant pink and where the vase meets the glass stand a purplish pink.

Down both sides are a step-like applied clear decoration which is asymmetrical. There is no damage, chips, fleabites or hair-line cracks noted on very close inspection. However, there may be a trapped bubble or two. This vase is in perfect mid-century condition. There is a label found on this vase ‘BT OPALINE FLORENCE MADE IN ITALY’. Please see photos for more information.

If you happen to have a backlit curio cabinet, this would make a glorious display.

Opaline Florence labels, particularly when marked as "Veritable Opaline de Murano," were considered to be under the umbrella of Murano glass production, meaning they were made on the island of Murano, Italy, known for its high-quality glasswork; however, the specific manufacturer behind the "Opaline Florence" label is typically attributed to the Nason company, which is a well-known Venetian glass producer.

History: V. Nason & C. Founded in the 1930s by Vincenzo Nason, this glassworks company was one of the largest on the island of Murano. They produced a variety of items, including glassware, lighting components, and bathroom accessories. The company was known for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to preserving the tradition of Murano glassmaking. They were also known for their Aventurina range, which was black glass with copper aventurine inclusions. The company closed in 2004.
