This necklace is a wonderful example of the quality product that was coming out of Mexico circa 1930’s. Each raised beaded plaque is hand cut and easily noticed while studying the back of each link.

Necklace measures approximately 15 ½ inches in length and comes with a loop and hook style clasp. This piece of highly collectable jewelry has a very nice presence with the center dome measuring 1 ¼ inches in diameter and graduating down to 7/8 inches.

On the back of the clasp hook is marked ‘Silver Mexico’ which is a mark that attests to the age of this piece, please read below. Total weight of this lovely neck piece is 32 grams and sits perfectly around the base of the neck.

I have given this silver piece a cleansing and light polishing to better bring out the various levels and create depth. The original deep patina is found between each bead on every plaque and is even throughout. I do know that those that collect early pieces of Mexican and Southwest artifacts do prefer the original finish therefore only the lightest of polishing was performed.

This fine piece of tribal jewelry has been tested for silver content and will be guaranteed to be no less than sterling silver. Should you desire further polishing of this necklace, please let me know once you’ve placed the order and I will certainly accommodate your wishes.

History: This Mexico Silver mark is seen on pieces from the 1920’s through the mid 1940’s. Their silver standard varies but is commonly found to be above 0.925 purity. This period in Mexican artisan silversmithing was formally known as the ‘Golden Age’. Contributions to the revival of the art of working with silver were made by famous silversmiths like William Spratling, Fred Davis, Los Castillo, Hector Aguilar, Margot de Taxco and Matilde Poulat.
