This fruit knife is extremely versatile as it may be tucked inside your pocket or attached to your gold pocket watch chain or chatelaine. The bail has a nice thickness to it and can accommodate small to average size chains. Most men within this period and earlier regularly carried a fruit knife at the end of their pocket watches.
To both sides of this piece is lovely etching with an oval blank cartouche on both sides. If so desired can easily be personalized for that special person. Within this fruit knife are two perfectly functional and sharp blades in a small and medium size. The only way to tell the front and back of this fruit knife apart is by the attachment of the bale to the case. One side has a ball while the other is the accompanying stud closure.
Closed this knife measures 2 3/8 inches in length by 5/8 inches in width and weighs a total of 17.31 grams. The etching on the front and back is in very nice condition and is crisp. The bale on the top moves freely from side to side.
There doesn’t seem to be any gold content or company/jeweler mark found. The knife has been tested and has passed the acid test for 10 k yellow gold. Both blades pull out completely.
