1895 St Louis Bridge Co Stock Certificate. Great vignette of Eads Bridge with steamboats on both shores. The St Louis Bridge or Eads Bridge was completed in 1874 and named after its designer, James Eads. It was the first bridge to span the Mississippi River at St. Louis, and the first bridge ever built to make significant use of steel in its structure. The bridge provided an entry into St Louis for the railroads which previously had to stop on the eastern bank of the river and transfer passengers and freight onto ferry boats. Considered an architectural marvel when first constructed, the bridge is still in use today following a recent restoration. VF+ condition with stamp and punch cancellation.
Purchasing Notes: Payment by check or PayPal. Insurance is bundled with shipping. I use a third party shipping insurer (not USPS, which does not insure 1st class large envelops, and is seriously overpriced due to pervasive fraudulent claims). I offer two domestic shipping choices: $3.50 for first class, and $9.00 for Priority. Priority is recommended for orders over $100. International shipping is $6.00 for a large 1st class envelope. Other international options are usually too expensive. Shipping charge does not increase if you order more than one item. Do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions.
