1876 Pullman Southern Car Bond Certificate signed twice (once on front, once on back) by George Pullman. Beautiful $500 scripophily bond certificate with vignette of a standing female Liberty. George Pullman (1831-1897) was an industrialist and inventor of the Pullman railroad sleeping car. His first Pullman car, the "Pioneer," appeared in 1865. It contained folding upper berths and seat cushions that could be extended to make lower berths. Guided by Pullman's entrepreneurial instincts, his Chicago industrial complex grew to become the greatest railroad car construction company in the world. Certificate is in VF+ condition, with both signatures affected slightly by punch cancels.
Purchasing Notes: Payment by check or PayPal. You can opt out of insurance, which I generally recommend. Ruby Lane strongly encourages insurance. However, this may not make sense on scripophily shipments (which are not exactly breakable). My experience in mailing thousands of packages is that less than one out of 500 packages does not arrive in good condition. Still, Insurance is recommended on orders over $100. On multiple certificate orders Ruby Lane does not compute the insurance charge correctly. I will correct overpayments, but it is best to get accurate order amount before paying. Do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions.
