1866 Boston Hartford & Erie $1000 Bond Certificate signed by John Eldridge. Beautiful early scripophily bond with vignette of train at platform. Three imprinted revenue stamps, one RN-W2, two RN-P2. Partial sheet of coupons (10 rows) attached at bottom. John Eldridge was the founder of the Boston Hartford & Erie, which ran out of money during construction. Eldridge turned to the Erie for help. Subsequently, he sided with Jay Gould in the dispute over the Erie with Vanderbilt. VF condition, with minor edge damage. (Note: I also have a couple of these bonds with only three rows of coupons, which I will sell for $45 each; email or call me, if interested)
Purchasing Notes: Payment by check or PayPal. You can opt out of insurance, which I generally recommend. Ruby Lane strongly encourages insurance. However, this may not make sense on scripophily shipments (which are not exactly breakable). My experience in mailing thousands of packages is that less than one out of 500 packages does not arrive in good condition. Still, Insurance is recommended on orders over $100. On multiple certificate orders Ruby Lane does not compute the insurance charge correctly. I will correct overpayments, but it is best to get accurate order amount before paying. Do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions.
