Here we have a very nice gas and electric wall sconce. The wall sconce is circa 1900 and is fitted with a matched set of gas and electric shades. The shade fitter is patent dated 1890 and 1908.
The wall sconce was rewired and it is ready to hang with a universal mounting bar. The electric socket has its original porcelain socket with paddle wheel key. The gas outlet has been converted to electric by the addition of a candelabra style socket. The lower light can be separately controlled via the paddle wheel socket, the upper light must be controlled by a wall switch.
The sconce has its original finish which has been cleaned, stabilized and polished. The sconce looks great and has no damage with only some minor wear and a couple of paint specks, all consistent with age. The wall sconce measures approximately 10" from the wall and is approximately 11" tall.
The glass shades are in exceptional condition with no chips, scratches or nicks. The shades are pressed glass with a nice fan and rosette panel. The top rim has a nice beaded edge. The shades are period shades, not reproductions. The gas shade has a 4" fitter and a 8" diameter rim. The shade is 5" tall. The electric shade has a 2 1/4" fitter, 4 1/2" diameter and is 4" tall.
This is a really nice turn of the Century wall sconces for your home or office.
