Here we have a very nice gas and electric wall sconce. The wall sconce is circa 1890 and is fitted with a matched set of gas and electric shades.
The wall sconce was rewired and it is ready to hang with a universal mounting bar. The electric socket has its original porcelain socket with a pull chain. The gas outlet has been converted to electric by the addition of a candelabra style socket. The lower light can be separately controlled via the pull chain, the upper light must be controlled by a wall switch.
The sconce has its original finish which has been cleaned, stabilized and refreshed. The sconce looks great and has no damage on the body of the sconce with only some splits in the wall escutcheon. The wall sconce measures approximately 17" from the wall and is approximately 14" tall.
The glass shades are in exceptional condition. There are a couple of small flea bites on the rim and a couple of fitter chips which are not seen when the shade is installed in the fitter. The shades are uranium glass, custard in color with a slight yellow tint. The gas shade is cased glass, and the electric shade is uncased, as made. They are an exceptional match pair. The shades are true uranium glass and react under a black light. The last two photographs show the shades under a black light. The two pictures before these, with the shades on the window sill, are in natural light. These two photograph are the closest to the true color of the shades.
This is a really nice turn of the Century wall sconces for your home or office.
