A pair of black silk hangings with embroideries of ruyi fungus, orchids, butterflies and crickets from the 1950s or 1960s. The dark shiny black contrasts very well with the light colored and colorful embroideries. The designs on the two panels are mirror images and well-embroidered.
Each panel has a black silk loop handle and a flat wood piece under the silk at the top, and a heavier round wood piece at the bottom to weight the hangings down.
Each panel measures 29 ¼” (74.3 cm) long x 6 ½” (16.5 cm) wide. Weighs 3.1 oz (90 g)
There are no losses. The colors are bright with no noticeable fading. All stitches are tight.
A wonderful pair of silk hangings that are hanging works of art. They would fit in well with either Asian or mid-century decors.
