This Tiki is straight out of the 1950’s or 60’s Polynesian bar. It is large and has that fun look from the mid-century.
A heavy single chunk of wood has been carved in the Hawaiian Tiki motif. The wood is a tropical wood with a tight grain in a pleasing medium brown color. It rests on a flat base that sits evenly. The figure has been glued to the base.
13 ¾” (35.0 cm) tall x 6” (15.2 cm) wide x 5” (12.7 cm) deep. Weighs 3 lb 14.5 oz (1780 g)
There are no breaks or cracks. There is what appears to be a carving mistakes on the edge of the front. This has wood stain over it and so was likely from manufacture. The wood is soft and so there is a large chip on the top corner, as well as several smaller ones along the edges. There are also several shallow scratches throughout. These could almost certainly be largely hidden by rubbing oil or even furniture wax on it.
A great fun piece to put on the end of your tropical bar. It looks like it could have come right from Trader Vic’s cocktail bar.
