A very small teapot with cloisonné enamels that decorate the lid and body in a profusion of color and patterns.

The teapot has a long narrow spout and a loop handle. The body has designs of flowers and swaths of color. The lid fits the body and has a chrysanthemum finial. The base is decorated just like the rest of the body. The interior and underside of the lid have been enameled in blue and white dappled design. The teapot is supported by three pointed feet. The piece has a nice weight and feels so very smooth.

MEASUREMENTS

3 ¾” (.5 cm) tall x 3” (7.6 cm) diameter. Weighs 4.7 oz (135 g)

CONDITION

The enamel on the edge of the underside is cracked. Otherwise, there are no cracks, chips, or breaks. The colors are bright. The tips of the feet show gold brass where they have been worn.

A very small teapot to add to your collection or to ponder how anybody could do such tiny work. It’s like a teapot a hobbit would own.
