A deeply colored and reflective Japanese cloisonné vase with a design of four floral friends that represent the four seasons: bamboo, orchid, prunus and chrysanthemum. The prunus is spring, bamboo is winter, the orchid is summer, and the mum is fall. There is a design on the back in the embossed foil of a bamboo plant and bird.
The metal vase has a tapering form and an everted silver-color metal rim. The body has been decorated in embossed foil and covered in pigeon blood red colored enamel with wired enamels that form the flowers. The shallow foot is also a silver-color metal. The interior is finished in the same red ginbari finish.
There is the paper label Japan on the base.

CONDITION
There is loss to the silver-colored finish on the rim. There is what appears to be a very small concussion mark near the beak of the bird on the foil pattern in the back. It is barely discernible with the complex ginbari pattern.
